Battlefield 6 Season 2 Cinematic Teases New Cold War-Era Base and Gas Mask Gameplay

After a delay for more polish and to incorporate community feedback, Battlefield 6’s next season is set to go live on February 17th. While February 12th marks the full gameplay reveal, Battlefield Studios has released the intro cinematic and some background on one of the new maps.

Long story short, the Pax Armata has seized a Cold War-era base from NATO, and the latter is going to war to get it back. The map itself looks to be on the larger side, with aerial combat and tanks rolling through the landscape, but the gas masks are the real key. A hazardous smoke is seemingly present throughout the map, necessitating the masks.

We’ll need to wait and see how extensive the mechanic is, but it was tested in Battlefield Labs (and codenamed “Contaminated”) before release. We’ll have to wait until later this week to learn more, but expect to see new weapons, attachments, and other additions.

And that’s only for the first phase of Season 2. Battlefield Studios has confirmed that fan-favorite Battlefield 4 map, Golmud Railway, will return at a later point.

Battlefield 6 is available for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. Despite player count dips post-launch, it was the best-selling game in the United States last year and a huge success for publisher Electronic Arts.
