We're just two months away from Season 2 of HBO's The Last of Us premiere and showrunners Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann are getting geared up for the release without giving too much away. We know the timeline going forward won't match up with the game's, but the season will also include material originally cut from the game itself.
Talking to Entertainment Weekly about the upcoming season, Mazin and Druckmann discuss the overarching story, what's being moved around, and what's being added. Some of the additional material was once considered for the game.
["It's] pretty brutal, but I'm very excited for people to see it," Druckmann teased. Season 1 added a lot of never-before-seen material such as Ellie's birth--with a cameo by original Ellie Ashley Johnson, and Bill and Frank's last days. There was a time when Ellie's mom could have had her own spin-off game.
