The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim just hit theaters this weekend, but you can already preorder the anime on 4K Blu-ray. And yes, the anime is indeed getting a 4K Blu-ray with a steelbook case. The War of the Rohirrim's Limited Edition Steelbook is available to preorder for $38 at Amazon and Gruv. Given the immense popularity of The Lord of the Rings, you'll want to secure your preorder for the collectible edition as soon as possible. We wouldn't be surprised to see this one sell out fast at Amazon. For more The War of the Rohirrim collectibles, including action figures and Funko Pops, check out our merch roundup.

The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim Limited Edition Steelbook on 4K Blu-ray
$38
The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim's Limited Edition Steelbook contains 4K Blu-ray, 1080p Blu-ray, and digital versions of the new anime. With Amazon's preorder price guarantee, you'll only pay the lowest price offered from the time you order and release. To be honest, I'm a bit surprised Amazon's starting price is $38 for this edition. With this being Lord of the Rings and the price of steelbooks lately, I would've expected higher.
This steelbook looks pretty great, too, with character art of Helm Hammerhand (voiced by Brian Cox) and Hera (voiced by Gaia Wise). The interior of the case features a map of Rohan, which is a nice nod to the books, many of which feature similarly designed maps on the interior covers or as fold-out inserts.
Preorders are currently available at Amazon and Gruv, and Walmart's listing should go live soon. Walmart is also taking preorders on an exclusive steelbook edition of The Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring, which releases January 7.
The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim on 4K Blu-ray
$28
If you don't care about steelbook cases, you can preorder the non-steelbook version of the 4K Blu-ray edition for $28 at Amazon or Walmart. The actual case hasn't been revealed, but we wouldn't be surprised if the awesome movie poster shown above is the cover art. The standard 4K release, at least at this time, appears to only come with the 4K Blu-ray disc and a digital copy, not the standard Blu-ray. We'll update this if the listings change to include the standard Blu-ray disc, too.
The Lord of the Rings: War of the Rohirrim on 1080p Blu-ray
$23
The standard 1080p Blu-ray edition is up for preorder for $23 at Amazon. This edition will likely have the same cover art as the standard 4K edition. Amazon's listing only notes the Blu-ray disc, so it seems you might not get a digital copy with this one.
More Lord of the Rings Preorders
The War of the Rohirrim was created by anime studio Sola Digital Arts. The film is set 183 years before the events of The Lord of the Rings and took inspiration from Peter Jackson's beloved trilogy of films. Based on an entry in the appendix of The Lord of the Rings, The War of the Rohirrim focuses on the kingdom of Rohan and its ruler Helm Hammerhand--the namesake of Helm's Deep--and the kingdom's war with the Dunlending raiders of Dunedain.
The 4K Blu-ray release of the anime obviously won't be available to gift this holiday, but you can get the brand-new Lord of the Rings Trilogy Gift Box. Set to release December 20 and available to preorder for $145, this is a re-release of the superb 4K trilogy box set featuring The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, and The Return of the King. It contains the extended and theatrical cuts for all three films. This set is packaged in a book-like box with a faux-leather finish. And, surprise, there's a map of Middle-earth on the interior cover of the "book." You also get a replica of the One Ring from the Noble Collection. It comes with a chain so you can wear it as a necklace and a pouch with the LOTR logo emblazoned on it.
