Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Content Delivered via Add-ons to Modern Warfare 2 – Rumor

Activision’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is out later this year, and despite earlier rumors about it being DLC for Modern Warfare 2, the publisher assures it’s a $70 release. However, Insider Gaming and PlayStation Size on Twitter recently took a “deep dive” into the code. The sequel’s content is seemingly being delivered via add-ons to last year’s title.

Tom Henderson also notes that the codes for the beta (which reportedly goes live in October) use the same concept ID as Modern Warfare 2, “meaning they are basically last year’s game codes, just reissued.” It also seems that Modern Warfare 2 will shift to Call of Duty Hub in a single menu with Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone 2.0.

If true, it’s an interesting approach to delivering the new release (and one that could raise hackles over whether it’s DLC or not). Then again, it does explain how skins and purchases from Modern Warfare 2 would carry over. The extent of the new content is unknown, but a new campaign with Makarov as the villain is seemingly confirmed.

With the official reveal set for August 17th, perhaps we’ll learn more about the full extent of the features soon. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 launches on November 10th, with PC, Xbox One and PS4 releases confirmed.
