Live A Live 2 Could Could Happen If The Remake Sells Enough Copies

A Live A Live sequel may happen if the recent remake sells well enough on PlayStation and Steam, according to producer Takashi Tokita.

As part of a recent video with Tokita, the producer answered some questions, one of which was in relation to a possible sequel to the hit RPG. "If the Steam and PlayStation editions of the game can sell a million copies, then I would be very confident in proposing a Live A Live 2 to the company," Tokita said. "So I need all of you guys [to] help with that."

The Live A Live remake, which launched for Nintendo Switch in 2022, has sold at least 500,000 copies, but it's unknown how well the game has performed, commercially, on other platforms. It eventually came to PS4, PS5, and PC via Steam in 2023, and was critically well-received.

Live A Live is a remake of the Super Famicom 1994 original, which only released in Japan. The remake marked the first time the game was playable worldwide.

In terms of a potential sequel, Tokita explained that he'd love to work with a variety of creators--not just manga artists. He'd like to "collaborate with all kinds of different creators from around the world on a new game."

Live A Live is currently available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and PC.
