Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Crossplay Can’t be Disabled on Xbox and PC

Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is finally out worldwide, following an early release of the campaign for digital pre-orders. However, there are already problems to be had, specifically with multiplayer. Many have reported that cross-platform play can’t be disabled for Xbox and PC platforms.

So while console players may have to deal with cheaters, PC players will have to deal with their opponents having generous aim assist (various Reddit posts have showcased how good it can be). It’s especially annoying since PlayStation players can opt to only match with PS4 and PS5 instead of other platforms.

There’s no in-game option to disable crossplay for Xbox and PC. However, Xbox players can do so on a system level by going to the Settings menu, navigating to “Communication and multiplayer,” and blocking players outside of Xbox Live. Unfortunately, this will disable crossplay for all titles. Time will tell if Infinity Ward patches an in-game option for the same on PC and Xbox.
