Remedy Entertainment is finally working on Alan Wake 2, a sequel that it’s wanted to develop for over a decade but is only now getting the chance to bring to life. As the developer’s first out-and-out survival horror game, Alan Wake 2 is shaping up to be a big shake-up for Remedy, which is just one of several reasons why so many are so keenly anticipating its launch. And it seems like the people working on it are just as excited- as they should be.
Recently, Remedy’s Sam Lake – writer and creative director on Alan Wake 2 – took to Twitter to share a brief behind-the-scenes update on the game’s development- more specifically, its writing process. Lake shared that he and principal writer Clay Murphy have together written more pages for the game than they have for any other game in the past, and called its story “a monster”. After a summer break, the writing team will seemingly back to continue its work, so there’s still more work to be done on that front as well.
Earlier this year, Remedy Entertainment confirmed that Alan Wake 2 had moved into full production, though the developer has also said that it won’t be sharing any new updates on the game this Summer– so don’t go expecting a new trailer or a gameplay reveal in the coming months.
Alan Wake 2 is due out sometime in 2023 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
Shoots ongoing with our stellar cast of actors. We’ve written a ton of pages with @yourpalclay, more than ever, I think (this story is a monster). More to come still after a short summer break from this dark place called the writers’ room. #amwriting @remedygames @alanwake pic.twitter.com/mR51xtUkBe
