Grand Theft Auto fans have some interesting stuff to look forward to in the near future. Even though it looks like it might be a while before GTA 6 rolls around, Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition is launching soon, while recently, it was also revealed that Facebook is partnering with Rockstar Games to bring a VR version of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas to Oculus Meta Quest 2, much like they partnered with Capcom for Resident Evil 4 VR.
And it looks like Rockstar’s parent company Take-Two Interactive isn’t just going to stop with San Andreas where its VR efforts are concerned. In the company’s recent quarterly fiscal report, when asked about whether Take-Two planned on investing more in VR, CEO Strauss Zelnick said that though he initially had doubts about VR’s potential for widespread success, it’s an “exciting technology” that Take-Two will continue to engage with.
“We’ve always said that we want to be where the consumer is,” Zelnick said (via Fool). “And when VR first emerged as a potential technology, while I expressed some skepticism about it becoming a very broad-based consumer application, I also thought it was really exciting technically and said that we would participate.
“Rockstar has already brought L.A. Noire to VR. NBA 2K has come to VR. I’m sure we’ll have more VR titles in the future as well.
“So we’re always excited when our creative teams can flex their collective muscles and do different things and remains to be seen just how big that can be. We never make projections like that, but we’re very excited about the opportunities.”
Currently, there is no release date or window announced for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas VR. Meanwhile, GTA: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition launches on November 11, and San Andreas’ remaster will be available via Xbox Game Pass on day one.
