Sony’s aversion to cross-play is known well across the industry, and even after finally letting the walls down and allowing cross-play in some games on PlayStation, details that have since come to light have shown that even now, getting cross-play enabled on PlayStation can be quite the complicated process.
PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan, however, insists that cross-platform play is something Sony is all for. In a recent interview with Axios, Ryan said, “We support and encourage cross-play,” listing a number of games that support cross-play on PlayStation, including the likes of Call of Duty, Rocket League, Fortnite, Minecraft, and more. He went on to say that the number of games with cross-play enabled on PlayStation “will continue to grow.”
We’re at a point where cross-play is becoming standardized in multiplayer games across the industry, which means the amount of games that support the feature is only going to keep progressively growing. Even so, complications still seem to arise every now and then. Recently, however, cross-play was blocked in Borderlands 3 on PS4 and PS5. Read more on that through here.
