Nintendo has announced updates hardware and software sales in its latest quarterly financial report. The Nintendo Switch has now sold a whopping 84.59 million units worldwide as of March 31, 2021. That’s up from 79.87 million units at the end of last year. It sold 4.72 million units during the previous quarter, and across the entire fiscal year (April 2020-March 2021), it sold 28.38 million units, which is up 37.1% from what it sold the fiscal year before that (21.03 million).
Of the over 28 million units sold during the previous fiscal year, 20.32 million units were the regular Switch model, while the remaining 8.51 million units were the Switch Lite. Nintendo is forecasting a further 25.5 million units of the Switch to sell this fiscal year, which ends March 31, 2022. A recent report stated that Nintendo is preparing to manufacture a cumulative 30 million Switch units this fiscal year, amidst rumours of a Switch Pro launch.
Meanwhile, the total software sales for the Switch in the previous fiscal were 230.88 million units worldwide, which is a 36.8% year-on-year increase (software sales stood at 168.72 million units in FY 2019-20). Lifetime software sales for the Switch are now at 587.12 million units.
