WWE 2K22 To Be Revealed At Wrestlemania 37

Wrestlemania 37 will run for the entire weekend of April 10-11, and if you're looking to get an update on what the next WWE 2K game will look like then it'll be worth tuning in to see a sneak peek at what publisher 2K Games and developer Visual Concepts has planned. The official WWE Games Twitter account posted the announcement, but it didn't mention when exactly the reveal will be made.

The last WWE game from 2K was the infamous WWE 2K20 in 2019, which hit the ring in less than ideal shape. Riddled with bugs and various technical issues, WWE 2K20 earned one of the lowest Metacritic scores since 2K acquired the franchise from THQ in the early 2010s and the negative feedback resulted in plans for a 2020 installment in the series being canceled. 2K hired former Double Helix studio head Patrick Gilmore to take over WWE2K and bring back a renewed sense of focus to the franchise.

"We hear you and we know you want more from the franchise, so here's what we're going to do: we are applying what we've learned to the next WWE 2K simulation game with a renewed focus on quality and fun," 2K explained last year. "We want to ensure the development team at Visual Concepts can create a great game that will entertain grizzled WWE 2K veterans, as well as newcomers who want to climb through the ropes and step into the ring for the very first time."

Last year's WWE-shaped void was filled by WWE 2K Battlegrounds, a Saber Interactive-developed game that harkened back to the arcade glory days of the WWE. WWE rival All Elite Wrestling also has a game on the way, with former WWE game developer Yuke's working on producing a project that combines the best ideas from cult classic games like No Mercy or Smackdown: Here Comes the Pain with more modern fighting game elements.
