Christopher Nolan's mind- and time-bending action thriller Tenet took home the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects as the Oscars on Sunday evening.
It went up against Love and Monsters, The One and Only Ivan, The Midnight Sky, and Mulan in the category. It's the third film from Nolan to win for Visual Effects, following Interstellar and Inception. Nolan himself has earned five Academy Award nominations over the years, but he has yet to win one.
The visual effects team from DNEG appeared on stage to accept the award. "It all goes back to our director, Christopher Nolan. He leads us all, and gives us amazing opportunities to do amazing things," supervisor Scott Fisher said in the acceptance speech.
