MLB The Show 21 cover star Fernando Tatis Jr. of the San Diego Padres hurt his shoulder during Monday's 3-2 loss to the San Francisco Giants and had help getting off the field. It would later be revealed that the shortstop suffered a left shoulder subluxation.
Tatis injured himself after striking out swinging against Anthony DeSclafani. You can see the moment it happened in the video below. Tatis is immediately and obviously in pain, collapsing to the ground and grabbing his left arm. A pair of trainers helped him off the field.

According to ESPN, the Padres confirmed that Tatis suffered a left shoulder subluxation--this is a "partial dislocation," according to the report. The team will reevaluate him today.
This is just the latest injury for the superstar, who signed a 14-year, $340 million deal back in February to make him one of the highest-paid players in the history of baseball. Tatis hurt his shoulder during a Spring Training game, but came back two days later.

ESPN reported that Padres manager Jayce Tingler informed media that Tatis has faced shoulder discomfort since he played in the minors.
With this new injury, and the fact that Tatis has committed five errors in his first four games at shortstop this season, it's not the kind of start to the year he probably wanted.
This is not the first time a cover star of a sports game has suffered an injury. The so-called "Madden Curse" is the term for when a cover of the Madden series goes down with an injury. It's happened so much that EA was developing a sports comedy about it.
In other news, MLB The Show 21 will be available on Xbox Game Pass on April 20, the day the game releases, which is a big deal for Xbox fans.
