Doom's Hugo Martin Appearing On Livestream With Trivium's Matt Heafy Today

id Software's Hugo Martin, the game director of Doom Eternal, will appear on Trivium guitarist and singer Matt Heafy's Twitch channel later today, April 6. The event kicks off at 12:30 PM PT / 3:30 PM ET and you can watch here on Heafy's Twitch channel.

The Doom franchise is known for its over-the-top and heavy metal vibes, so this pairing is not completely out of left field. Heafy takes requests and performs Trivium songs live on his channel, while he also plays video games, so this seems like an excellent meeting of the minds.

Martin has made numerous appearances to talk games and promote Doom, and this is just his latest. Before this, Martin appeared on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast in March 2020 just before Doom Eternal released to promote the game.

As for Trivium, the band is no stranger to video games. Its song, "Shattering the Skies Above," was featured on the God of War: Blood & Metal soundtrack to promote God of War 3.

Doom Eternal recently added its Ancient Gods: Part II expansion, and it wraps up the Doom Slayer's story that began with 2016's Doom. Despite that, id Software said it is planning even more updates for the 2020 game this year.

While the Doom Slayer's story that began with the 2016 game may be finished, id Software has teased that the franchise still has more stories to be told.

"Our hero is somewhat timeless--I mean, literally, he's immortal," Martin said in an interview. "So we could tell all kinds of stories. It's as if [Spider-Man director] Sam Raimi was given a Transformers budget to go make a sequel to The Evil Dead--that's what Doom feels like, to us."

Doom Eternal is on Game Pass, so subscribers can pick up the base game at no extra charge on Xbox and PC. The game is also available on PlayStation consoles.
