Microsoft’s Rumoured Event Later This Month Reportedly Won’t Have Any Major AAA Announcements

Microsoft have had an eventful few days this past week, with the Bethesda acquisition finally getting officially approved, but it seems like the company has plans to keep its momentum going over the next several weeks and months. Recent reports have suggested that the end of this month will see them holding an event with additional announcements, to be followed by several more events over the course of the next few months, while plans for E3 and summer events are also underway.

As far as the rumoured event later this month is concerned though, it might be best to keep your expectations in check. Speaking during a recent episode of the XboxEra podcast (which you can view below), GamesBeat’s Jeff Grubb, who has been on the forefront with several Microsoft-related leaks and rumours of late, said that the late-March Microsoft event, which is allegedly scheduled for March 26, is not going to be a big one. Grubb’s advice is to not get hyped, with no major announcements or updates planned for the event, and the focus instead being on smaller indie releases and service-focused announcements.

Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One do have a number of notable indie games planned for 2021, including the likes of The Gunk, Hello Neighbor 2, and The Ascentto name just a few, and updates on these games are long overdue, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see Microsoft focusing on such games in a forthcoming event.

Of course, as with any rumour or leak, it’s best to take this with a grain of salt for now, especially seeing as the event itself hasn’t even been officially confirmed by Microsoft yet. We’ll keep you updated on any new info that comes our way though, so stay tuned.
