Zombies has been a mainstay of Call of Duty for a while now, and its scope and its popularity have increased exponentially over the course of over a decade. Recent reports, however, have suggested that it could become more than that. Known insider Tom Henderson (also known as TheLongSensation) reported about a month ago that a separate standalone Call of Duty: Zombies game was in the works.
Recently, Henderson doubled down on that, saying that Activision has “big things planned for Zombies”, and that it’s now going to be “just a third game mode” for much longer. Given the massive popularity Zombies has enjoyed in all of its renditions, it’s not surprising that Activision might be working on something that puts it front and centre- though of course, for now, this is all just a rumour, so remember- grain of salt and all that.
Meanwhile, with Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Warzone’s recent large-scale Outbreak mode, there’s plenty of Zombies content for players to enjoy.
There's BIG things planned for zombies. It won't be just a "3rd gamemode" for long. https://t.co/vgt35jAykL
