PS Plus has been a service now since the PS3 days and has continued to evolve as time has went on. It’s now basically the PlayStation version of Xbox Live Gold, being required for online play and giving out some free games to subscribers. The actual list of games can be up and down and, as always, it’s subjective how good you find the selection. In the end, though, it does seem as if Sony is aiming to go a little newer.
In an extensive interview with GQ, PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan was asked about the future of the service and whether or not we’d see brand new games being given away on the service as we had seen since the PS5’s launch. Specifically, this is referencing Bugsnax and Destruction AllStars, both of which launched day and date on PS Plus. He said they would be as subscribers have had positive reaction to the practice.
“We see this is a very interesting and innovative way to publish games and to make games available to our subscribers. It works for us as the publisher and we know that subscribers to PlayStation Plus love it.”
Unfortunately, Ryan did not give any reveal about what the next day and date game would be for PS Plus. We’ll just have to wait for ourselves on that one.
