Marshmello make-up? Music producer Marshmello challenges L’Oréal trademark application

THE WHAT? Speculation is growing that notorious music producer Marshmello is planning a foray into make-up after he challenged a trademark application lodged by L’Oréal for the term ‘The Marsh Mellow’ in relation to a new beauty launch, according to a report published by EDM.

THE DETAILS Marshmello alleges that L’Oréal’s planned use of the term would infringe on the artist’s ‘natural zone of expansion’.

Further, the complaint reveals that the dance music producer ‘sells or intends to sell health and beauty products, including make-up’.

THE WHY? High-profile musicians are no stranger to the music world and the two spheres often align – with make-up sold via Spotify and several singers, producers and rappers lending their name to beauty products.
